Parents & Leaders

For parents and leaders

What ZLAP asks of youth, how requirements get signed off, and how we keep your kids' information off the internet.

Advancement philosophy

Built on what youth already do

ZLAP is designed to avoid unnecessary burdens and piles of extra requirements.

It recognizes growth that happens through Church service, family responsibilities, school, athletics, jobs, community involvement and time outdoors. If your son already cooks dinner twice a week, or your daughter already runs cross-country, that work counts.

As youth get older, the focus moves from learning skills, to leading others, to mentoring and getting ready for adult life.

The three key questions

  • Seekers: Can I take care of myself and contribute to my group?
  • Pathfinders: Can I help others succeed?
  • Stewards: Am I prepared to stand on my own and help others do the same?

Verifying requirements

Every requirement has a “Verified by” line, and a parent, guardian or leader can sign it. Many requirements run for 30 days, like daily prayer or keeping up with chores, so check in along the way instead of waiting until the end.

The workbook and the app

The workbook belongs to the youth: their reflections, campout logs and testimony in their own handwriting. The ZLAP app tracks the same progress so leaders can see where every youth stands and plan activities around what is still left.

Youth privacy

This website has no youth names, photos or progress on it, and it never will. Progress lives in the app behind a sign-in, and youth sign in with a username and PIN from their leaders. Nothing on this site collects information about minors.

Getting started

Talk with your bishopric or your ward's youth leaders. They can get your youth the right workbook for their age and set them up with an app sign-in.

Already in the program?

Youth, parents and leaders sign in to the ZLAP app to see progress and record what has been finished.
